Margaret Cavendish and John Milton: Rethinking Seventeenth-Century Literature and Culture

Saturday, February 12, 2022 - 10:00am - 05:00pm

The Medieval-Renaissance Colloquium at Rutgers University would like to invite you to the virtual symposium: Margaret Cavendish and John Milton: Rethinking Seventeenth-Century Literature and Culture. Given the status of the pandemic, the symposium will take place online on February 11 and 12, 2022.

Our participants will be presenting their works-in-progress about two important interlocutors of early modern literature and culture: Margaret Cavendish and John Milton. Firmly dedicated to interdisciplinary research and scholarship, this conference will be a significant intervention in early modern collaborations; scant attention has been paid to the overlap of and conversation between these two authors and philosophers. To that end, the symposium will examine issues of authorship, materialisms, gender and history, and bodies; along with a presentation on a Rutgers exhibit on early modern material culture. Please see the attached brochure for the detailed program.

Please join us for what promises to be a wonderful innovation and celebration of early modern scholarship. Make sure to register at the link on the poster below; or use the following link https://rutgers.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJArf--qpjoqE9B-DkwMr6eWv8iWZDh0xvbF
